Santa's House in Central Park touched the lives of more visitors in 2011 than it has in recent years. With an increase of over 22%, the total number of visitors was 4,268 (including adults and children) over the 17 days it was open. In comparison, the past 3 year visitor totals were:
- 2010 - 3,324
- 2009 - 2,640
- 2008 - 2,500
With the increased hours of visitation (additional 14 hours), signage and overall awareness, this community attraction was able to impact more families during the holiday season. Thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers and community partners for making it possible!
A special thanks to Susie and Jim Peck of Sims Lumber and all the volunteers for coordinating the revitalization efforts including: re-painting, cleaning, adding new furniture, storing and moving the Santa House. Originally built and donated by the Metro Decatur Homebuilders Association, the Santa House in Central Park is a well-loved tradition in the Decatur community.
