Help Youth Prepare for a Career in Business
January 27, 2012Have you ever wanted to give something to our youth to help them prepare for their career in business? This may be the perfect opportunity for you to achieve that goal. The Illinois Association of DECA (an association of Marketing Students) is preparing for its 67th Annual State Career Development Conference. We would like your assistance.
We need you as a judge on Friday March 9th, 2012. The students competing have qualified at the local level to compete at the state conference. You can assist in determining who can qualify to compete in Salt Lake City, UT at the International DECA Conference in April. There is no preparation required on your part prior to the conference.
The conference will be held at the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel in Decatur. You will be greeted at Judge's Registration with a continental breakfast hosted by Illinois Foundation for Marketing Education at 7:45. Lunch vouchers for $5 off at the hotel will be provided by the Decatur Area Conventions & Visitor Bureau. Food is very reasonably priced. All events will be completed by 4:30 p.m. Some events may finish earlier. You are also invited to stay for dinner as our guest at the annual banquet beginning at 6:30 p.m.
You can show the 900 participating DECA members how you support their future by registering to serve as a judge. You can email me at dbaysingar@maine207.org with your acceptance and I will return additional information to you. I encourage you to bring a colleague to share the experience. Judges will receive a confirmation letter and an informational brochure prior to the conference. It will help our planning process if you respond soon to this request. We will always take late registrations, but the earlier planning assists in even distribution of judges.
