Decatur Leadership Institute to Graduate 27th Class
Decatur, IL -The Decatur Leadership Institute (DLI) will celebrate the graduation of its twenty-seventh class this Thursday, January 26th from 6-8 p.m. at the Scovill Golf Course Banquet Center in Decatur. The graduation dinner will feature class-elect speaker, John Mahaffey along with the presentation of graduation certificates.
The goal of DLI is to identify, motivate and develop potential community leaders. Through this charge, DLI has graduated over 625 individuals since its inception in 1985. The list of past graduates is full of community leaders who serve on various boards and committees throughout the Decatur - Macon County area.
"The Chamber is proud to present the 2011-2012 DLI graduating class, one of our signature programs for the past 26 years," said Mirinda Rothrock, President of the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce. "The graduates have put in time, energy and effort to develop their leadership skills by going through the DLI program and are now prepared to serve our community."
The DLI Program has prepared its graduates by designing educational programs to broaden their knowledge of the Decatur area and the critical issues affecting our city, exposing them to leadership and civic organizations and taking them on in-depth exchanges on relevant issues with leadership experts from the community and the state.
DLI is a channel for participants to gain access to leadership opportunities. It is intended for graduates to lend their talents to boards and committees of area organizations who are in need. Anyone interested in contacting DLI graduates about a leadership opportunity can call the Chamber at 217-422-2200. Applications are being accepted for the 2012-2013 DLI class, beginning in the fall of 2012. To apply, go online to www.decaturchamber.com or email customerservice@decaturchamber.com.
