New Life Thrift Shoppe to Celebrate Grand Opening
Decatur, IL -The New Life Thrift Shoppe will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, November 18, 2011, with a Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce (GDCC) ribbon cutting ceremony at 1700 East Pershing Street, Suite A in Decatur next to Aloha.
The facility opened its doors on November 1, 2011, and serves the community by selling merchandise and using the funds to support the services provided through the New Life Pregnancy Center (NLPC). The shoppe's hours of operation are Tuesday thru Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The thrift shoppe has created 4 new jobs in the area. The shoppe operates with the help of many volunteers and serves as an avenue to meet the tangible needs of current New Life clientele.
"Proceeds from the New Life Thrift Shoppe will provide funds that support our mission and the community's demand for our services," stated Penny Weaver of NLPC. "We are happy to bring jobs to Decatur."
The GDCC ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and feature the Chamber's ceremonial scissors from the 1930s that have cut ribbons signifying many major business milestones in Decatur and Macon County. A light lunch will be served.
New Life Pregnancy is a silver level member of the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce.
The Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce (GDCC) was chartered on July 3, 1903, but traces its roots back to the 1887 formation of the Decatur Board of Trade. The GDCC is recognized as the second oldest Chamber of Commerce in the state of Illinois and will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2012. The Chamber's mission is to be a pro-business network providing service, political advocacy, and leadership to strengthen education, community image, and local businesses.
