The nomination period is now open for the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce's 2010 Outstanding Small Business and Mary Gladney Micro-Business awards. The awards will be presented during the Chamber's annual meeting in May 2010.
The nomination procedure has been streamlined and now includes only two questions. Nominated businesses will be asked to expand on information the selection committee will need for consideration. To nominate a business, fill out this nomination form and email it to Stephanie Irby at events@decaturchamber.com or call 422-2200.
Chamber businesses with 10 or fewer employees are eligible for the micro-business award. This award is named after Mary Gladney, a former Caterpillar employee who opened a beauty salon after an extended factory layoff in 1991. Gladney developed a passion for business and served as a mentor for other minority-owned enterprises and a champion for micro businesses. The award was named in her honor following her 2006 death at age 55.
Chamber businesses employing 11-100 workers are eligible for the Outstanding Small Business Award.
