    Protein Ingredient Development Scientist- Decatur, IL

    This is a full time exempt position

     
    The research group of Archer Daniels Midland Co. is actively seeking an individual with the following qualifications. This position will work across all of ADM’s business units and product lines to support our protein ingredient process development team and food processing pilot production facilities.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    Minimum of M.S. Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering or related discipline of study with 10+ years of experience in the area of protein ingredient develop research for use in the food and/or dairy industries.

    You should have a deep understanding of protein processing technologies, protein chemistry and functional properties of proteins;


    Ability to work independently as well as a member of cross-functional teams on research projects involving the development and improvement of novel plant-based protein ingredients for food & beverage applications;

    Have a deep understanding of protein processing equipment which includes the operation, maintenance and proper sanitation of such equipment.

    A good understanding of basic protein analytical techniques.

    Possess good social skills and the ability to work and communicate directly with individuals from the areas of commercial, research, operations and production;

    Self-motivated and be willing to work with their hands;

    Must be a great teammate and have good written and verbal communication skills;
     
    Responsibilities:

    Individual will be responsible for working closely with both external and internal customers on the development of new plant-based protein ingredients as well as the optimization of the functional & sensorial properties of current protein products.

    Must have a good working knowledge of the processing equipment used for manufacturing these protein based ingredients.

    A knowledge and understanding of food plant sanitation and food safety is a requirement.

    You should be personable and able to communicate clearing with our customers.

    Responsibilities will also include the development of technical training tools for training both external and internal customers on the functional, nutritional & compositional properties of our plant-based protein ingredients. This would include both lecture and hands-on laboratory training.

    This position will entail working closely with our ingredient process development and food & beverage application teams. The position would require approximately 30% travel and will be based in Decatur, IL.
